AIM Photonics Offers Volume-to-Scale MPW Runs

Scalability for prototyping and packaging gets easier with volume-discount pricing for additional die per wafer

AIM Photonics continues to develop multi-project wafer technology solutions, addressing some of the biggest challenges at the forefront of integrated photonics. AIM Photonics has succeeded in providing an accessible and reliable small-volume option for integrated photonics development at the wafer-scale, including process design kit offerings and an MPW program. Building on this success for small to medium-sized enterprises, AIM Photonics is now offering incremental increases of die per wafer for MPW riders, while ensuring predictable reliability in larger volumes. By offering a volume discount for wafers already being processed, riders can utilize the flexibility and cost differential for better management of chip production for prototyping, testing, and packaging, or research targets.

“Reducing costs while increasing production is increasingly difficult across various industries that rely on integrated photonics circuits. Scaling efforts in integrated photonics is critical,” says Nathan Lin, director of photonics outreach at AIM Photonics who helped launch the volume-discount program.

AIM Photonics has been instrumental in providing a U.S.-based silicon photonics MPW platform with validated libraries of active and passive components; along with several custom platforms to address industry applications and offering streamlined fabrication as well as test, assembly and packaging services.

Volume-discount pricing is available to all current and future MPW riders, and costs can be used to offset membership for those interested in continuing to use AIM Photonics services.
