AIM Photonics Summer Academy registration is now open
Immersive academy offers students and industry professionals a full week of intensive short courses and hands-on training on integrated photonic circuit design, chip fabrication, packaging, testing, and system applications
After a two-year hiatus, we are pleased to announce that the AIM Photonics Summer Academy will return to MIT on July 25-29, 2022 for a week of intensive study of the design, manufacturing and packaging of application-specific photonic integrated circuits.
With instructors from MIT, Columbia University, RIT, Dartmouth College, University of Delaware, and University of Rochester, participants in the week-long academy will:
Identify optical components market trends and assess electronic-photonic integration benefits in emerging industry applications: datacomm, RF signal processors, sensors, LIDAR imaging, and quantum computing.
Evaluate the performance of silicon photonic devices and foundry chip production methods.
Learn about the standardized approach of process design kits (PDKs) to begin designing basic photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for fabrication with AIM Photonics.
Use leading automated design tools from vendors who collaborate with the AIM Photonics PIC foundry production process.
Learn about PIC packaging evolution and test characterization methods.
Interpret application design tradeoffs and identify manufacturing standards to satisfy unique metrics for application-specific PICs.
In addition to the topics scheduled for the week-long class, participants will have access to the online course Fundamentals of Integrated Photonics for continued learning in key principles and application areas. Participants will also gain access to ongoing Application Interest Groups each focused on design standards and performance metrics for one of the application areas: datacom, RF signal processing, sensors, or LiDAR imaging.
