RF/SUNY COMPONENT LIBRARY

The Research Foundation for SUNY (SUNY RF) logo

The component library developed and released by the engineers at The Research Foundation for SUNY (RF/SUNY) currently consists of the basic building blocks designers require to get light in/out of a chip, route it, split it, and detect it. These basic components allow for designers to focus on the design and development of their novel silicon photonic components. The current library includes:

  • Si/SiN waveguide models

  • Y-branch splitters in Si and SiN

  • 50/90/99% power taps

  • Edge and vertical couplers

  • Escalator transistions between Si and SiN

  • Ge Photodetector

In the future, RFS plans to develop and release:

  • Photonic crystal-based devices

  • Ring resonators

  • Variation tolerant passive devices

  • Ring-based active devices (modulator, filter, switch)

  • Variable optical attenuator

  • Electronic primitives (resistors, capacitors, etc.)

Other helpful information to know

  • The current PDK version that should be used for passive or active MPW runs is 5.5 or newer. Please contact us to confirm if an older version will be compatible.

  • The community of organizations who use our PDK is growing. To support this design work and provide information about common questions, we’ve set up help desk functions. See details about getting an account.
